“Dorfbücher” (village books) often show the sequence of ownership for the old farms, but they don’t exist for every village. Example: Werner Wied (Hrg.) "Erndtebrück, ein Heimatbuch des obersten Edertales", 1977.

Further literature about Wittgenstein is listed in Bibliographie Wittgenstein.

“Ortsfamilienbücher” (village family books) do not exist for Wittgenstein itself, but only for some of the surrounding areas, as Asslar, Oberhörlen and Roth, Oberkirchen, Wallau/Lahn and Weifenbach.

Due to numerous genealogical connections between Wittgenstein and Siegerland, additional data can be found in the Siegerland volumes of Deutsches Geschlechterbuch.
